Internet Marketing Kudos (#1): Aggressive Improvement

I love working with people that are open to improving their current marketing programs. A buddy of mine has launched a new business based primarily on the web. He’s in a highly competitive space so the company’s website search ranking cannot be established overnight. To his credit, since going live his team has been continually adapting and improving their home page, and it has come a long way.

Last week I ran an analysis of his home page using the SEOMOZ tools. These tools are some of the better automated-analyses that reveal opportunities for ranking better in search results. Here’s a partial snapshot of his score:

Slightly better than an F! But after I showed it to him he made an appointment with me to go through the underlying details and understand it completely. Right now he is taking the new insights back to his team, and I fully expect to see important changes on his home page in the near future.

The lesson here is it’s OK to have problems in your website, as long as you are continually working to overcome them. This friend is a good role model for anyone with a website.
